this painting was inspired by a recent (on 6/2) incident in northeastern Thailand, where a 26-year old (give or take a year) wild bull Asiatic Elephant (Elephas maximus) named "Plai-Biang Lek" (literally meaning "ginger-avoiding little one") by the locals, went on a spree in a local grocery store, binging on snacks such as the bananas depicted in the scene. At one point he got stuck (crammed) against the low ceiling but was freed with human assistance. The damage (mostly mud stains) he did to the market was relatively minimal, estimated to be the equivalent of 30 U.S. dollars. What is "Clean-up in Aisles..." in Thai?
