The Side-blotched Lizard inhabits arid (desert) regions of the western United States and northern Mexico. Adults measure 3-5", weighing (on average) around 2 oz. It is named for the dark brown (to blue-black) markings on its yellowish buff skin. Their chief diet is comprised mostly of insects.
